I just did not have time to write diaries. So I'll summarize quickly my three weeks there while I am still jet lagged and unable to go to sleep ....

- Mexico City: Independence parade. Terrorism.

- Cancun: Xcaret, folk dancing and songs, Yucatecan food.

- Mexico City: books, football, classical music and all that jazz.

- Financial crisis: blame the Dems.

Print Story Masala tov!
Diary
By dark nowhere (Fri Oct 03, 2008 at 08:46:14 PM EST) (all tags)
So I got some random curry-related things, including 3 different bottles of masala. None were what I was hoping to find (an oily but otherwise dry masala) since they're all quite wet. This is what I get for being too lazy to whip up my own.

Despite this, it's good to have a variety of spicy things, to which end I've also gotten some thai chili sauce (I'd have gotten the chilis themselves but I couldn't find any) cayenne powder, etc. So given rice/noodles and meat, I can do just about anything I want to them.

I'm no financial expert. I'm not even a finance novice. I'm just some sort of young fool. I don't quite know what to think of this financial crisis and the rescue (not bailout, I've been advised) package.

Print Story Sweet ride.
Diary
By nightflameblue (Fri Oct 03, 2008 at 11:13:19 AM EST) (all tags)
Dad whipped out a new toy yesterday for its first real drive. Sweet, sweet looking car. Bright red, whitewalls, old-schoolish wheels with the simple silver disc center on cream/yellow outers and a super-smooth interior with flat dash/console. Very nice.

So, I stop in the BIG WIG parking lot to check it out on my way home and the head of HR comes whipping by to brag it up, like, you know, I wouldn't have a clue about it. Because I only saw this thing in pieces about a six dozen times or so before finally seeing it come together. Whatever.

Work. MSSS. Something's going right? Technobaubles.
