I would rant about anti-piracy messages, but this poster sums it up.

So instead I'll bitch about it being hard to find out which DVDs have these stupid fucking messages on the front.  I can't even contact the publishers because in this age of instant communication, they still don't see how an email address  might be remotely useful.

Somehow this accusation really really ruins my enjoyment of a film.  Are there any DVDs without this crappy message on the front any more, or should I just give up buying DVDs?

Good business strategy. In terms of value for money and utility compare:
  1. DRM encumbered legitimate music download that might work on some playback devices
  2. Illegal MP3 you can do what the fuck you want with
Of course, this has all been said several times before.

BTW: The Chinese guy in the pub has got some quality porn DVDs as well as normal films.

I have a grabbit subscription.  Can probably get full isos of the films I want and burn them to disc.  I just don't want to do that.

Porn, not "quality" porn. In my experience anyway.

I was about to make some kind of real life-electronic life gag about people stopping you as you walk into the supermarket and giving you a five minute lecture not to steal anything, but I've just been there, and there's a huge trailer just in front of it across half the disabled parking spaces spamming this weird tinned spiced ham product their selling. I reckon they should try selling it by unsolicited commercial email.

Buy the DvD, download the torrent and burn it.

Questionably legal, but much less headache.

Okay.

It annoys me that I can't punish the DVD publishers for their attitude that way though.

Just steal the DVD? by debacle (2.00 / 0) #11 Wed Apr 04, 2007 at 11:03:48 AM EST
Most anything I download is years old, so I don't give a nut about downloading it.
